Mysore Dasara

Dasara is the Nadahabba (state-festival) of the state of Karnataka. It is also called as Navaratri (Nava-ratri = nine-nights) and is a 10-day festival with the last day being Vijayadashami, the most auspicious day of Dasara. Dasara usually falls in the month of September or October. According to a legend, Vijayadashami denotes the victory of truth over evil and was the day when the Hindu Goddess Chamundeshwari killed the demon Mahishasura. Mahishasura is the demon from whose name; the name Mysore has been derived. The city of Mysore has a long tradition of celebrating the Dasara festival and the festivities here are an elaborate affair and attract a large audience including foreigners.

Lata Mangeshkar (Hindi: लता मंगेशकर, born September 28, 1929) لتا منگیشکر is a singer from India. She is one of the best-known playback singers in the Hindi movie industry. Mangeshkar's career started in 1942 and has spanned over six and a half decades. She sang in over 980 Bollywood movies and has sung songs in over twenty regional Indian languages, mostly in the Hindi. She is the elder sister of the equally accomplished singer Asha Bhosle and lesser-known singers Hridayanath Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar and Meena Mangeshkar.

His most notable contributions to the field were his five laws of library science and the development of the first major analytico-synthetic classification system, the Colon classification. He is considered to be the father of library science in India.

Dr. Singh is a member of the Indian National Congress party and became the first Sikh to become Prime Minister of India on May 22, 2004. He is regarded by some as the 'most educated' Indian Prime Minister in history.[1] He is considered one of the most qualified and influential figures in India's recent history, mainly because of the economic reforms he initiated in 1991 when he was Finance Minister under Prime Minister Narasimha Rao.[2] His permanent residence officially is in Dispur, Assam as he gets elected from there.
